Recycling this blog

I finally decided to repurpose this WordPress blog for something else. For a few years, I didn’t know what the fuck to do with it, so I just connected it to Ping.fm and it kept posting shit that I intended to tweet into these pages. I stopped using Ping.fm cuz I kinda changed my mind about spamming 50 other micro/blogging services with my tweets. Now I only tweet on Twitter.

The first thing I wanted to do was wipe this thing clean of the 2000-odd useless tweets it had. I made TwitWipe and this is the kind of an opportunity I need to make an app like WPWipe or something, but I’m too fucking lazy. So I figured I’d sit and delete all posts. 10 at a time.

That was too lame. So I tried to find a better way to do it. Turns out, you can set your posts page to display upto 200 tweets at a time, and then select them all and delete them. You can actually set it to 1,000 too, but deleting it won’t work, because your browser will fuck up cuz of too many ids. I tried 500 and 300. Neither worked. So 200 it is. I cleaned it up in around 10 tries.

And now I feel like deleting this post too. The blog looks so nice and clean by itself.

  1. Why not just do a simple MySQL query?
    DELETE FROM wp_posts WHERE post_category = 1

(Just bumped into your blog right now, fun read.)

    1. If you can get me access to wordpress.com’s hosted MySQL db server, sure, I’ll run the query myself!
